Thanks, isathreadsoflife, I do like to pin pieces to a cardboard base to lay out a miniature quilt pattern. On this one I have pieces of paper in the shape of the diamond and I pin fabric to the paper until I have enough to sew a diamond together. It allows me to play with the colors a little and a place to put scraps when I have leftovers from other projects. I do have the fabric foundations cut out of an old sheet. I need to cut more though. I've used almost all of them I had cut out. That means progress!

So happy your little boy is feeling better ! He is adorable. And I admire your quilting very much ! Those diamonds, were they sewed on a cardboard piece like in the "Grand-mother 's flowers garden" ? I still have not finished mine ... slowly but surely I will though :)

Thanks Laura Lea. I didn't win the fish blocks though I won the rail fence blocks. I didn't put the rail fence in it's traditional setting though. I probably should have. I like the way it turned out though. I purchased the fish fabric years before I won the blocks and I came upon them one day and realized how great they would look in this quilt. I had to add a border around the fish squares to make them as large as the rail fence blocks I won. It turned out better than I thought it would. It is nice when a design works out so well.

This is an exceptional quilt. I love how the colors flow and you actually were lucky enough to win those great fish! The batiks you used really enhanced the fish! Wonderful. Thanks for the link to see it up close. I can tell it is loved and special. It just simply sings!

Thanks Magik Quilter. My brother was 19 years old when he died. He was in a motorcyle accident and was in a coma for 3 days. It was the longest 3 days of our entire lives. I don't wish that kind of pain on anyone.
I do think we have to prepare ourselves for death though. I just visited my Mr's aunt in the hospital with alzheimers. She was awake and clearer in thought this time. It won't be long and she will be leaving us. This is our time to prepare.
